Our basic beliefs on the Bible, God, Jesus, and the Church are:
What We Believe
This is a concise summary of the Constitution of Harvest Bible Church and its statement of faith. We are a Reformed Baptist church holding to the historic Calvinistic doctrines and New Covenant theology. You may view a full version of our beliefs on our Confession of Faith page.
We believe God is:
One God but Triune in nature;
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Co-equal but hold different offices
Eternal
Unchangeable
Every where (Infinite), but not everything
Creator (yet not the author of sin)
The source of all true wisdom and knows all things from eternity past
Holy, Just, Loving, Merciful and bound only by His own nature
We Believe the Father to be:
The first person of the Trinity
Fully God
He who orders all things for His Glory
We Believe Jesus Christ to be:
Sent by the Father to do the will of the Father
Fully God
He became fully man through virgin birth
Was crucified for the sins of His Elect
Was raised from the dead having fully paid the penalty for their sins
Sitting bodily in Heaven
The ONLY way to salvation
We Believe the Holy Spirit to be:
Fully God
Personal
Sent by the Father for the guidance and comfort of His children
Sent by the Father to convict the world of sin
We believe Scripture is:
Inspired by God (God breathed)
Written by man
Inerrant and without contradiction in it's 'autographs' or originals
Infallible on all it touches upon
Sufficient for salvation
Clear on all man needs it to be clear on
A closed canon, 66 books
We believe man to be:
Unique in all creation
Responsible for the stewardship of all God has given him
Sinful by nature (through Adam)
Sinful by choice (unregenerate man cannot choose for good)
Responsible for all of his sin
We Believe sin:
Affects all of creation
Severs any relationship with The Creator
Has the outcome of death, physical and spiritual
Holds natural man captive. He is incapable of freeing himself from it or its guilt.
Affects even the Redeemed in that they will struggle until Glory
We Believe Salvation:
Cannot be earned
From beginning to end, is Gods gift to man
Was purchased by Jesus Christ through His death on the cross
Is freely offered to all mankind
Is effective only for Gods elect
Includes indwelling of the Holy Spirit
Includes new a heart, desires and motives
Includes right standing with God
Includes eternal security/ heavenly rest
Worship is:
To be given to God alone
All of creations' high calling and duty
To include all of life
Not to be limited to a day or place
We Believe the Ordinances to be:
Made up of two alone; Baptism & The Lords Supper
Physical pictures of spiritual truths
1. Baptism reflects a public confession of one’s death to self and living for God
2. Lords Supper is a memorial of remembering Christ’s death on the cross
We believe the church to consist of:
There is a Universal church, containing Believers from all times and locations and..
A Local church or group of Believers that gather together to encourage, strengthen, build-up each other
A Biblical church must have an established Government of Elders with Deacons as required
We believe there is a Final Judgment
The Second coming of Christ is for judgment
There will be a bodily resurrection;
Believers
Christ has covered their sins
They are saved from condemnation, wrath and Hell
They will give an account of their use of all God has given them.
They will be joyfully received into Heaven to spend eternity with their Lord
Unbelievers
They have willingly offended a holy God
They will be condemned to eternal punishment in Hell with no hope of reprieve
